Enter the Unconscious Mind
So, you know the part of us that breathes without us having to think about it? The part of us that digests our food without us having to tell it to? That’s the unconscious part of us or our autonomic nervous system. This unconscious part of our body also controls our thought processes. Yes, thats right – it control what and how we think. So whether we like it or not, we are at the mercy of our unconscious – not just physically but emotionally, too. Here’s how.
From a very young age we have experiences – some of which are good and some of which are not so good. We’re going to focus on the not-so-good ones for now. Now these experiences have emotions attached to them which we feel strongly in the body. As we recall these not-so-good experiences we have had, we also recall the fear we felt at the time. And that fear is stored in our bodies’ cells. But here’s where the problem comes in. The unconscious mind’s main aim is to create certainty. Why? Because being certain of what is fearful (in other words dangerous to us) helps to keep us alive (survival of the fittest remember?) We are a product of our own evolution. The problem is that the unconscious mind can’t tell the difference between what is perceived (in other words us remembering the fear we had) & what is real (the actual event itself) and so through memory, it re-lives the experience again & again, reinforcing that negative experience or trauma into the body’s cells. Most of us are not even aware of this.
The creation of the Limiting Belief
So if the unconscious mind-body wants the certainty of avoiding that same fear or negative event that it has (or thinks it has) experienced, it will do whatever it takes to ensure this doesn’t happen again. It will do anything it can to ensure you don’t have to go through that again, even if it means overriding your conscious mind and your thought processes.
Because the unconscious mind stores the memories and create the beliefs, it completely takes over your thought processes without you even knowing it. It springs counter arguments on you, de-motivates you or even creates physical symptoms to hold you back (yes the unconscious mind is that powerful!)
Can you see how easily we end up with self sabotage behaviour? It unconsciously holds us back from making change and we are not even aware of it.
Enter Clinical Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a safe, natural and powerful therapeutic tool. It works with the unconscious mind to release negative and unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours, and replace them with positive and helpful ones. For many, the perception of Hypnotherapy is that of stage hypnosis, where the Hypnotist has ‘çontrol’ of the audience. Clinical Hypnosis couldn’t be more different. You are always in control, able to speak, and you cannot be co-oerced into doing anything against your will. It’s relaxing, safe and it is fine to work or drive afterwards.
Hypnosis is powerful because it works with the unconscious mind to facilitate change. During hypnosis, you are more receptive to positive suggestions for change. This trance like state also helps these messages become embedded into the unconscious mind, leading to changes in behaviour and thought patterns

This is by no means a guarantee, but it indicates that most people are very likely to benefit in some way.

Is Online Hypnotherapy as powerful as face-face hypnotherapy?
Absolutely. Sessions are carried out online via zoom technology, where it almost feels as if you are in the same room! All you will need is an internet connection, a comfortable chair, a quiet space without interruption for the hour-long session and if possible, a headset or earphones.
